Nintend's E3 2016 is focused on finally pulling the veil off of the latest game in the Zelda universe. It is offically titled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WIld.

This is complete and total shift in playstyle for the venerable series. It is 100% open world and non-linear. Progression is limited to the player's ability to traverse the world with their available gear. There is a day/night cycle and dynamic weather that also has a strong effect on what gear you carry or clothes you wear.

Link can now jump, swim, and climb FROM THE START!!!! All of these physical actions, and even some of the attacks, are tied to the new stamina wheel. As of now it is unknown if the stamina wheel can be upgraded through play like other open world titles that have used a similar mechanic. It has been shown that food can temporarily extend your heart count, as you do not find hearts naturally in the world by "cutting grass" anymore. Thus hunting and gathering will be an integral part of the new gameplay loop, because this is how you produce replinishment items.

Weapons are picked up from fallen enemies and will break. Ore can be processed in the game, and there are items with elemental properties, but as of right now it is unknown if that ore and those items can be combined to craft more powerful weaponry or gear with resistances.

Three new amiibo have been shown, which release in 2017, presumably when this title releases as well. The Wolf Link amiibo from Twilight Princess HD is also compatible with this title.

No release date has been locked in, but if this is to be the swan song for the Wii-U and also ushering in the NX, what a way to do it.
